HISTORY

The history of Maglificio Ripa goes back to the end of the Second World War when Luigi Ripa decided to start up a company producing made to measure knitted garments.

In 1952 he founded Milan ATIS, a small industrial company producing ‘Simplex’ fabric, in operation until 1978 when it took the name Maglificio Ripa. The company grew quickly and became a reference point for an increasingly sophisticated and mature market.

The company has always specialized in quality: from the machinery bought to the design and research operation and the people employed. After years of gaining experience by the founder’s side the knitter is today managed by Luca Bianco who, aided by his young and highly professional team, infuses vital energy into the company which is dynamic, modern and looks to the future. The future is where Maglificio Ripa is today, and it needs to be, to compete in an increasingly demanding market.

Intrinsic in the philosophy of the company that has quality at its heart Maglificio Ripa has its own design department in which knitting technicians, graphic designers and managers with their knowledge of the latest market needs, meet regularly to fuse together fashion and new technical developments.

Production is geared towards defined sectors: fabrics for swimming costumes, for lingerie and underwear, for sportswear and for outerwear.

Thanks to the launch of a new range of fabrics registered under the name Light® and produced on innovative and technically advanced looms, Maglificio Ripa has become potentially one of the largest producers in Europe of lightweight, second skin fabrics.

Design and Quality

Maglificio Ripa is today a byword for quality: quality that is based on a constant drive to innovate and research.

Starting with the choice of yarns, a professional team works with both customers and suppliers aiming to satisfy market needs and to meet, through continuous technical development and a continuous control and checking process, the idea of total quality.
